Automated Profile Uploads
Yes. You read it right. Automated profile uploads are coming soon. I've got most of the client code written and I've got an approach for the upload that is secure and efficient. Our uploader tool will work much like UniUploader.
Configuration
1. You enter your Guild Launch forum name.
2. You enter a "Client Access Key"
3. You point the application at the WoW folder
Then the application will tell you what characters are available for upload. Then you check off on a list and when their data is updated the data will be uploaded.
It's as simple as that.
What is the "Client Access Key"?
The Client Access Key is a concept we are introducing for outside data upload and download from Guild Launch. It is a globally unique, non sequential, nearly unguessable identifier for your account. No one ever sees this identifier except you and any program you share it with. This key gives a program extremely limited access to certain functionality in your Guild Launch profile. Currently, the key is only good for profile uploads, nothing else.
Our goal is to provide a secure way for users to upload profiles, while not requiring a username and password to be entered into the client tool. The Client Access Key allows us to do this by generating a unique access key for each user and having them enter that. With that key currently only profile uploads can be performed. The key can be regenerated at any time if you feel you need a new one.
This approach is used by Eve Online for client tools for 3rd parties and has proven to be quite successful. The user doesn't expose any real passwords, the system can still maintain a reasonable level of security by allowing restricted, less sensitive access via this key, and the more sensitive info is always secure and requires a different type of authentication.
The key will be very easy to obtain. You click a link in the application, it takes you to a page on Guild Launch which displays your Client Access Key (requires login of course). You copy and paste it into the uploader. You're done.
Source Code
Since this is a program that runs on your computer, we'll be releasing the source code so people can see what it is doing. We'll also be providing a download site with MD5 hashes to ensure what you download is what we provided.

In 4.7, due out in mid July, we will be releasing new rank management features. They include:
* The ability to automatically assign a rank to all of a member's characters when you give the member a rank.
* The abiltiy to automatically assign a rank to a member when you give the character a rank.
* The ability to on-demand apply all current member ranks to their characters.
* The ability to on-demand apply all current character ranks to their members.
* The ability to remove all currently set ranks for members or characters.
NOTE: Unclaimed characters will not be considered in automatic or manual rank application. They can have their ranks mass removed though. In testing, this proved to make more sense since unclaimed characters are often on the Guild Master's account, but those characters certainly wouldn't be that high of rank typically.
This is all part of our relentess quest to make Guild Launch powerfully easy to use.
Enjoy!

Greetings everyone!
Guild Launch will be closed on Friday, July 4th. We will not be responding to email support on Friday for non-emergency matters. We will be checking the e-mail support system for urgent requests though.
I (Stephen) will be out of the office on Thursday and Friday and will have limited computer access since I will most likely be fully engrossed in a marathon Metal Gear Solid IV session and will be spending time with my wife and kids. I will check the forums periodically on these days, but not as regularly as usual.
We will, of course, have all of our normal 24/7 server monitoring in place during this time.
Enjoy!
